Solicitation Profile
This Request for Applications (RFA) provides funding for individual predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships (similar to NIH F31 and F32 awards, respectively) that will enable New York State to attract and retain the most promising and exceptionally-talented predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows. The intent of this initiative is to support the continued training of researchers with extraordinary potential for making significant contributions to the fields of SCI research.

Projects will be supported by State funds. Approximately $1.5 million will be available for this RFA to fund approximately six (6) training (pre- or post- doctoral) awards. The amount of funds awarded will be contingent upon the quality of applications submitted. In determining final awards, the Department reserves the right to allocate funds between the two funding mechanisms offered within this RFA as it deems appropriate.

Eligible organizations are invited to submit applications for the following funding mechanisms:

1. Predoctoral fellowships will be a three year award with total annual costs of up to $45,200 per year (see RFA Attachment 2 pages 7-8).

2. Postdoctoral fellowships will be a three year award with total annual costs of up to $71,910 per year (see RFA Attachment 2 pages 7-8).

Questions and Answers, including Applicant Conference slides, published on July 5, 2018.
