The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is pleased to announce funding for projects that will implement priorities of the Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda - to provide benefits of a vital estuary ecosystem: clean water; resilient communities; the sustainability of Estuary fish, wildlife, and habitats; conservation of natural scenery; and enhanced access, river education, and recreational opportunities. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) anticipates approximately $750,000 in available funding for River Access projects to support projects and plans to improve access for boating, fishing, swimming, and/or enjoyment of nature or wildlife-related recreation or educational interpretation of the estuary on tidal waters, providing universal access and storm resiliency. Funding for this grant opportunity is provided by the Natural Resource Damages (NRD) GM/Tarrytown Hudson River Settlement. Projects must implement objectives of the Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda. Projects must be located on publically accessible lands along the tidal Hudson or tidal portion of a tributary within 15 miles to the north or south of the former General Motors factory location, in the general vicinity of the Village of Sleepy Hollow or Village of Tarrytown. Grants will range between a minimum award amount of $10,500, up to a maximum amount of $375,000. Applications must be submitted in the NYS Grants Gateway by the following due date: 3:00 P.M. March 20, 2019. Please email all HRE grant opportunity questions to Susan Pepe: HREPgrants@dec.ny.gov. Questions will be accepted by the Department until close of business March 13, 2019.
